Oxiris Chemicals, as part of chemical sector and producer of antioxidants, had the pleasure of participating in the last General Assembly of the Catalan Chemical Sector Business Federation (Fedequim), which brings together both companies and associations linked to the chemical sector.
 
In this last assembly, the first Foreign Trade Report of the Catalan Chemical Industry (www.fedequim.es) was presented by Sonia Lamas (Business Development and Marketing Manager of Oxiris).
 
The aim of this study is to evaluate the position of the Catalan chemical sector in the context of its foreign trade over the last eight years. It includes the results of the analysis of exports and imports both from a general view of the sector and broken down into the different subsectors: basic chemicals; pharmaceuticals; detergents and soaps; synthetic and artificial fibres; coatings and paints; and agrochemicals.
 
The results of this study consolidate the chemical sector as an essential part of the growth of both the sector itself at national level and the Catalan economy and provide some promising data for the Catalan chemical sector.
 
It highlights the fact that 44% of the total exports of the chemical sector in Spain in 2021 corresponded to the chemical industry located in Catalonia. Moreover, the chemical industry was the leading export sector in Catalonia, both in 2020 and 2021, well above such relevant sectors as agri-food and automotive.
